Afternoon Nursery 2016/2017

Welcome to Afternoon Nursery

We would like to say a huge welcome back to our afternoon Nursery children. It has been great to see so many of you attending our sessions at the new start time of 12.30pm.

Who are the staff?

There are lots of grown ups who help us at Nursery. Miss Knowles is the teacher in charge. Mrs Hutton helps us on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Mrs Stokes and Mrs Windridge are there every afternoon. Our staff are always available to help you.

Who can come to this session?

Afternoon sessions are for children who are eligible for Time for 2's. We take children the term after their second birthday. We also welcome children the term after their third birthday into this session, even if they were not eligible for Time for 2's.  If you have any questions or queries please get in touch with Miss Knowles at school (01384 816980).

What is our routine?

Children attend the sessions from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. Nursery doors open at 12.30pm. Parents are encouraged to come in and help their child put their belongings in their locker. Children then self register with their grown up and can explore the activities that are available that day.  Grown ups are more than welcome to help their children settle at activities.

What do I need to know?

Children can wear their own clothes in an afternoon session. We provide lots of messy play activities which enable children to develop their exploratory skills and language. As a result the children may not always come home looking as neat and tidy as they did when they first arrived! We are aware that our youngest children can need a lot of support with their toileting. If your child is in nappies, please could you provide a bag with nappies, wipes and spare clothes in. We are more than happy to change children as well as support with toilet training when your child is ready. We ask for a voluntary contribution of £2 a week which Mrs Williams collects on a Monday. These help us to provide resources for the children to do cooking and craft activities. During the afternoon we provide children with milk, fruit and toast. Fresh water is available throughout the session which we support children in accessing.

Autumn 1

Miss Knowles has been out on home visits this week with Mrs Stokes. We are looking forward to welcoming our new children to Nursery. We will be basing our learning around Nursery Rhymes. The first one we will be learning is 'Dingle, Dangle Scarecrow'. Our activities will be based around this.

The children have enjoyed making a collage of a scarecrow for our display in Nursery. They have also made split pin scarecrows. We had a visit from Catherine from Dudley Performing Arts. She let us explore the musical instruments and we had lots of fun! The children have enjoyed parachute games outside.
