Downing Street

Our Junior Leadership Team traavelled to London to visit an extremely famous building- none other than 10 Downing Street!  We had been invited to take part in 'Lessons at number 10'.  We had an early start, leaving school at 7:15am but we were so excited we didn't mind.

The journey down was seamless and we arrived just in time.  After being let through those big black gates we entered a strict security process.  We then walked down the iconic street to face the big black door, it opened for us automatically and we were in!

Once inside we were greeted by a array of workers who took us up a grand staircase and into a very ornate room.  It was full of intricate coving and a truly magnificent chandelier.  There we listened to a panel of guests who told us all about their work in space.  Some were engineers and other worked for the Space agency, like NASA!  The Prime Minister's wife facilitated the discussion and I have to say the children engaged extremely well. They answered questions with confidence and made us so proud. We were slightly emotional at how well they represented our school, what super stars!

We then went on to take part in some workshops; these consisted of making rockets and launching them, feeling moon rock, moving a mini rocket and having a smell of some space scents-very interesting!

It was a truly amazing day, a once in a lifetime experience.  I hope the children will remember the day forever more!
