Our learning in Autumn One...
Physical Development
-Moving & Handling
- Health & Self-care
The children have been using the outdoor area to practise their physical skills, they have really enjoyed throwing, catching and kicking the footballs. In our kinetic letters (handwriting) the children have been making their three writing fingers strong so they can hold their pencils correctly and use them with good control! They have learnt how to form letters of the alphabet - some of them can even write words!
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
-Making Relationships
-Managing Feelings & Behaviour
- Self-Confidence & Self-Awareness
Since the start of term the children have all formed blossoming friendships with each other. They have all tried really hard to remember the three school rules - kind hands, kind feet, kind mouths! It has been wonderful to see children working together cooperatively to achieve an outcome!
Communication & Language
-Listening and attention
-Understanding
-Speaking
This term we have read a lot of stories which has improved the children's listening and attention massively. The children have then been asked questions about the stories to help their understanding. The children develop their speaking every single day through daily conversations.
Literacy
-Reading
-Writing
The children have had a half term jam-packed full of stories - this has improved their knowledge of how stories are structured and provided them with some fantastic new vocabulary. Since the first week back the children have participated in a daily phonics session where they have learnt to recognise sounds, blend words and use the magnetic boards to spell words.
Mathematics
-Number
-Shape, Space & Measure
In maths we have been learning how to recognise number, order number and count out objects. We have also been measuring people and objects using measuring hands and feet. We have been talking about height and weight using the language: tall, short, heavy and light.
Understanding the World
-The World
-Technology
-People and Communities
This term we have had a strong focus on being unique... being ME. We have done a lot of activities to help the children recognise similarities and differences between themselves and others and why this is important. We have also used the Ipads to navigate apps.
Expressive Arts & Design
-Exploring & Using Media & Materials
-Being Imaginative
The children have had free access to creative materials throughout their first term - this has allowed them to use their imagination alongside their creative skills. They have created some fantastic masterpieces.
