It is important to keep our learning going at home too. Check this page every Friday to find your weekly homework task. When you have done be sure to email it to zjeffries@brierley.dudley.sch.uk.
we have been learning all about plants as part of our science topic this term. We even planted some seeds of our own and are excited to watch them grow. We learnt that seeds need water, air and sunlight to grow so we chose a safe place for our plants. Here we are being expert gardeners!
In art this term we have been inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. He uses natural materials to make pathways in his art so that’s what we did! Here are some of our wonderful pathways using a variety of unusual materials:

We have had such a busy start to year 1, with so many new things to learn. We have all worked so hard to make our number bonds speedy, become brilliant geographers and do some superb writing! Here are a few of our highlights from Autumn 1.
In our Geography lessons we have been exploring different answers to the question: 'Where do you live?'. We learnt that our planet is called Earth and our town is called Brierley Hill (which is in England!). We were then ale to talk about what our local area is like and had a look at Brierley hill on google maps. We could see lots of roads, trees, houses and even managed to spot our school.
As part of our Literacy lessons we learnt how important reading is to help us with our writing. We thought about the sort of things we like to read and how choosing books that we find interesting can help us to love reading. Here you can see us exploring the books from our class library. Look how focused we all are!
We have learnt so many new things in our maths lessons this half term! We learnt to recognise our number to 100 and how to add together to make 10. We also explored lots of different ways of adding and subtracting within 20 as well as naming 2D and 3D shapes. Here you can see us exploring these new maths skills through the use of fun games, challenges and activities.
